In-Game Immersion and Storytelling

Tales From Immersion is a prototype of a type of media narrative I explored in my second year at AUT [Bachelor of Creative Technologies]. My project used the survival game ‘DayZ’ as a platform to tell the story of a character ‘Aaron Young’ taking place within the world.
Footage used for the video was recorded in one take from a single life in an online server. Nothing was scripted but whilst playing I was thinking with the narrative in mind. Only the basic premise of the character was designed before hand and further details were added based on the developments that happened during the play-through.

This style of story telling had world building to start then a performance element and finally the finalising and somewhat ret-conning of the story. I found it to be a unique process.
